The Application Process
The links provide information you need that will help you in the
application process. The FAQs also
provide quick answers to common questions. The Financial Aid Forms
are used as part of the application process.
At minimum, the steps needed are:
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
form to apply for federal and state grants, loans and work study.
- Transmit your application electronically via computer to the
Department of Education
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov . You (and your parents if
applicable) will need a PIN number to sign your application
electronically. If you do not have a PIN already, you may get
one by logging into
http://pin.ed.gov . You may also mail your FAFSA to the
Department of Education. For assistance in completing the FAFSA,
you may attend a
Financial Aid Express Lab Workshop
- You will receive a
Student Aid Acknowledgement letter within 4-6 days from the
Department of Education if you transmitted your application
electronically. If you mailed your application, you will receive
a Student Aid Report within 4-6 weeks.
- If corrections are needed, resubmit your report to the Central
Processor. Once the Financial Aid Office receives your data electronically,
your need for financial assistance will be determined.
- Upon reviewing and completing your file, an award letter will
be sent to you.
- You may be required to submit documentation to the Financial
Aid Office so that we may verify the information reported on your
financial aid application. Some documents required may be income
tax forms for you and your spouse or parents, verification worksheet,
income worksheet, support worksheet, etc. All required documents
must be submitted in order to award any aid. When your file is
reviewed, discrepancies may result in corrections which will delay,
reduce or cancel an award.
