Workshops
The Office of Student Financial Services offers a variety of workshops to assist students with the financial aid process.
The following workshops are available:
Express Workshops: offer one-to-one assistance to students in completing the free application for federal student aid (FAFSA). After the application has been reviewed by a financial aid officer, students enter their application on a computer. The application is then sent electronically to the U.S. Department of Education. The application receives a response from the processor normally with in two weeks versus four to six weeks if the FAFSA were mailed to the processor. Loans By Web Workshops: were created to assist students in processing their student loans. The University of Texas- Pan American is participating in a new loan process for Stafford loan borrowers. The new process will allow students to complete their entire Stafford loan process via the internet for each Stafford loan they borrow. TG Loan By Web (TGLBW) is a website which allows students to accept, decline, reduce, and guarantee their loan funds on-line. Workshops given at the Express Lab
TEXAS Grant Workshops: the purpose of the TEXAS Grant workshop is to inform the grant recipient of his/her academic responsibilities needed to stay in the program. Important topics such as how long the student may receive the TEXAS Grant, and how to apply for the TEXAS Grant are covered in these workshops. As a TEXAS Grant recipient at UTPA, it is mandatory that students attend two of these workshops. Ideally, it is best to attend one of these workshops during the first year in the program and the other during the second year in the program. Work Study Workshops: If you are a first-time work study student, you must attend a Work Study Orientation. An appointment is necessary. Email: workstudy@panam.edu or come by the Financial Aid Office to sign up for an orientation. Each orientation lasts 2 hours. Please be on time!
