Waiver of Nonresident Tuition for Foreign Services Officers Stationed in Mexico Attending Public Institutions of Higher Education in Texas

Program Purpose

To provide a waiver of nonresident tuition for officers in the U.S. Foreign Service who are assigned to a post in Mexico and are attending a public institution of higher education in Texas.  For more information visit the states website: www.collegefortexans.com.

Qualifications

To be eligible to apply for this program a student must:

1) Be foreign service officers employed by the U.S. Department of State

2) Be assigned to duty in an office of the U.S. Department of State located in Mexico; and

3) Be enrolled in a public institution of higher education in Texas.

Non-immigrant aliens are not eligible for this program as they would not be serving as foreign service officers for the United States.

Award Amount

This program permits nonresident students to pay tuition and fees at the resident rate.  It is limited to Texas public colleges and universities. 

Application Process

The student may contact the Student Financial Services Office at 956-292-7298 for information on claiming this exemption.  The student must be able to provide proof that he or she meets the requirements.
