Military: After Assignment in Texas

Program Purpose

To provide a continuation of the waiver of nonresident tuition for the spouse and or dependent children of military personnel who remain in Texas when the military member is reassigned to duty outside the state.  For more information visit the states website: www.collegefortexans.com.

Qualifications

This waiver is available to those individuals who are the spouse and dependent children of members of the U.S. Armed Forces or Commissioned Officer of the Public Health Service who remain in Texas when the member is reassigned to duty outside of Texas. This waiver will be available to the spouse and dependent children of military members during the member's assignment to duty elsewhere as long as the spouse or child resides continuously in Texas.

Award Amount

This program permits nonresident students to pay tuition and fees at the resident rate.

It is limited to Texas public colleges and universities.

Application Process

The student must contact the Student Financial Services Office at 956-292-7298. for information on claiming this exemption.  Students must be able to provide proof of meeting the program’s requirements as explained above.
