Military: Orphans of Texas Members of the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard

Program Purpose

To provide financial assistance to students whose parent died as a result of illness or injury related to service in the U.S. Military or the National Guard.  For more information visit: www.collegefortexans.com

Qualifications

To be eligible to apply for this program a student must:

1) Be a Texas resident

2) Be the dependent child of an individual who died as a result of injury or illness related to service in the U.S. Military or the National Guard

3) Have used up all federal educational benefits for which he or she is eligible

Award Amount

This exemption can only be used at Texas public colleges or universities.

The exemption pays for all tuition and fees and charges including correspondence courses.  It does not cover property deposit fees, student service fees, nor any room and board fees. 

Application Process

The student must provide proof that he or she meets the requirements explained above, which includes documentation from the Department of Defense or the National Guard regarding the parent’s service-related death, to the office of Student Financial Services.
