Firefighters Taking Fire Science Courses

Program Purpose

To encourage persons employed as firefighters to take college courses designed to help them in their work.  For more information visit the states website: www.collegefortexans.com

Qualifications

To be eligible to apply for this program a student must

1) Be a resident of Texas

2) Be employed as a paid firefighter by a political subdivision of the State of Texas.

3) Be enrolled in courses offered as part of a Fire Science Curriculum.

Award Amount

This exemption covers the tuition and laboratory fees for courses offered as part of a fire science curriculum.

Application Process

The student must provide the financial aid office proof of employment as a paid firefighter and enroll in the courses of a Fire Science Curriculum.  The student’s curriculum will be reviewed on a one to one basis to determine his/her eligibility.
