Adopted Students Formerly in Forster or Other Residential Care

Program Purpose

To provide tuition assistance to students who once were in foster or other residential care and have been adopted.  Refer to the Foster Care Student Program for more information or visit the states website at www.collegefortexans.com

Qualifications

To be eligible to apply for this exemption the student must:

1) Have been in foster or other residential care,

2) Have been adopted, and

3) Have been the subject of an adoption assistance agreement under Subchapter D, Chapter 162, Texas Family Code.

Award Amount

The exemption covers tuition and fees.  It does not cover property deposit fees.

Once the student has been determined eligible for the award, the award continues indefinitely.  There are no durational limitations in statue referencing how many semesters or years a student may receive this exemption.

Application Process

The student must provide official written proof from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (TDFPS) of eligibility to the Student Financial Services Office.
