Disbursement Process

How do I Get my Financial Aid?

                       

Step I    You MUST accept your awards.

                       

               1.      To accept your awards on-line go to:   

                           https://assist.panam.edu

               2.       If you have a Stafford Loan:

                           An extra step is REQUIRED before any funds are received by UTPA. 

                           See Loans by Web Steps.

 

           

      IMPORTANT UTPA NOTICE: 

 

                            You must give UTPA Student Financial Services Office 3 to10

                         business days from the day your loan was last modified,  to certify

                            your loan before you can continue with the On-Line process.

 

 

Step 2   Once awards are accepted, a credit will be present in your student account.  All University  

               charges will be paid  first.

                                         

  *Awards, which require extra steps, will credited

    to your account once the eligibility requirements

    associated with the award) are met.

 

Step 3 Once all University Charges are paid, an Early Disbursement check may be mailed to                 you to assist with purchasing books and supplies 1-2 weeks before school begins.

                   

                  

                   Please note that Early Disbursements are only issued under certain financial aid programs and 

                   are not issued for the Summer Terms.

 

                   Visit the Student Financial Services Office for further information.

              

                   Stafford Loan checks will be mailed if all steps have been followed and the loans have

                   been successfully guaranteed.

 

Step 4   After census date(12^th class day), if a credit is still available in your UTPA student account, a                Disbursement check will be mailed out to you at this time.

                 

               A Daily check process begins approximately 14 days after the semester begins.

      

                            PLEASE NOTE:  If you have a HOLD on your UTPA Student Account,

                            a check will not be mailed to you. You will need to clear the HOLD

       before the check will be released to you.

 

 

How do I accept my Awards On-Line?

 

Make sure to follow are directions and read all messages carefully.

• Log into: https://assist.panam.edu

• Go to “Financial Aid”

• Click on “Personal Financial Aid Information”

• Select “Award Year”

• Click on “Accept Awards”

• Go to “Action” column, which allows you to ‘accept’ or ‘decline’

• If does not allow you to ‘accept’ or ‘decline’, then follow the steps indicated for technical help
